Not long ago, Crickex App reports that the NBA has officially named DeMar DeRozan of the Toronto Raptors and Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors as the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week for games played from January 1 to January 7. This marks DeRozan’s third Player of the Week honor this season, while it is Curry’s first of the 2023–2024 campaign.
According to Crickex App, DeRozan delivered stellar performances across three games, averaging a league-best 35.7 points, along with 6 assists and 4.3 rebounds per game. He posted impressive shooting percentages, hitting 55.7% from the field, 55% from three-point range, and 93.3% from the free-throw line. In two of the Raptors’ three victories that week, DeRozan led all scorers. His standout moment came on January 1 against the Milwaukee Bucks, when he dropped a career-high 52 points—also setting a new franchise record. He became just the third player in Raptors history to score 50 or more in a game, joining Vince Carter (2000) and Terrence Ross (2014). DeRozan matched his career-best with 17 field goals, including five threes, and went a perfect 13-of-13 from the foul line.
Just two days later, DeRozan scored 18 of his 35 points in the third quarter to lead the Raptors past the Chicago Bulls. He followed that with a 20-point effort in another road win over the Bucks. This is DeRozan’s third Eastern Conference Player of the Week award this season, having previously won it from November 13–18 and December 18–24. In his career, he has now won the honor eight times.
Curry, on the other hand, powered the Warriors to a perfect 3–0 record that week. On January 6, he capped the stretch with a 45-point performance against the LA Clippers, setting a personal best with 15 made free throws on 16 attempts. Earlier that week, in a road win over the Dallas Mavericks on January 3, Curry scored 32 points and hit a game-winning three with just three seconds left on the clock.
Over the course of the week, Curry averaged 35.3 points per game—second in the league—along with 6.7 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 1.66 steals. He shot 53.3% from the field and 46.2% from beyond the arc. Crickex App notes that this marks the 11th time Curry has earned Player of the Week honors, and the 49th time a Warriors player has won the award.
Crickex App emphasizes that both DeRozan and Curry are showing peak form at a crucial point in the season, each leading their respective teams with veteran poise and clutch performances.
