Man United Open to Winter Signings if Right

Lately, Crickex App reports that Manchester United remain cautiously optimistic about strengthening their squad during the winter transfer window. While manager José Mourinho has emphasized that the club’s main focus is on summer recruitment, he admitted that should the right opportunity arise in January, the Red Devils would not hesitate to act.

Throughout this window, Manchester United have been heavily linked with Arsenal star Alexis Sánchez. British media outlets believe United are frontrunners in the race for the Chilean forward. Speaking to the press, Mourinho explained that the current squad was built on the assumption that no new players would arrive this winter — a principle both executive Ed Woodward and the club’s owners fully support. That, he added, is why United made major moves in the previous summer window.

“We set the balance of the squad back then,” Mourinho stated. “Unless something dramatic happens — like an injury crisis — we aren’t forced to make changes. But sometimes, when an exceptional player becomes available, you have to go for it.” He continued, “If such a chance appears, we’ll act. If not, there’s no need to force it. I really like this group. The more time I spend with these players, the more I appreciate them.”

Crickex App noted that United spent time this week in Dubai for warm-weather training, further bonding as a team. When asked whether the club would always chase the best talent on the market, Mourinho responded, “It depends on many factors — timing, player fit, and our actual needs. Ideally, we aim to improve the squad each summer in specific areas. For example, if you sign a goalkeeper now, you won’t need to do so again in the summer.”

Looking ahead, Mourinho revealed United’s long-term plan includes signing three new players in the summer — a defender, a midfielder, and an attacking option. However, if one of those needs is met in January, the summer targets would be reduced accordingly. “I trust this squad,” he concluded, “but we always seek ways to grow, as long as it maintains balance and elevates our overall strength.”

Crickex App will continue to monitor United’s transfer strategy, especially as they weigh short-term opportunity against long-term planning in the ever-competitive Premier League market.
